VC Best Practices is an educational series for a group of relatively new investors who want to be exposed to the best venture and startup thinking. Each event is attended by accredited investors and non-partner VCs that skew intentionally, but not exclusively, toward underrepresented backgrounds. In this panel, we'll talk to three investors whose experience ranges from actively building multiple firms, to having made recent hires, to actively hiring right now. They'll share their perspective on what they've seen work and what they're looking for when building a venture team.","access":{"free":null,"application_required":null},"audience_roles":["investors"],"audience_orientation":"nontechnical","company_stage":null,"interaction":["content"],"topics":["venture","fundraising"],"modality":"in_person","meal_context":"none","series":null,"mentions":[{"text":"Galaxy Interactive","kind":"organization","subtype":"fund","role":"affiliation"},{"text":"Northzone","kind":"organization","subtype":"fund","role":"affiliation"},{"text":"Serena Ventures","kind":"organization","subtype":"fund","role":"affiliation"},{"text":"nextNYC","kind":"organization","subtype":null,"role":"host"},{"text":"VC Best Practices","kind":"program","subtype":null,"role":"mentioned"},{"text":"nextNYC","kind":"organization","subtype":"community","role":"organizer"},{"text":"Aaron Liu","kind":"person","subtype":null,"role":"speaker"},{"text":"Beth Ferreira","kind":"person","subtype":null,"role":"speaker"},{"text":"Cole Mora","kind":"person","subtype":null,"role":"speaker"}],"sources":[{"id":"nextnyc","class":"newsletter","publisher":"nextNYC","first_observed_at":"2025-04-07T11:45:11.0000000Z","last_observed_at":"2025-04-14T11:45:09.0000000Z"}],"discovery":{"first_party":[],"newsletter":["nextnyc"],"provider":null},"basis":{"audience_roles":{"investors":"observed"},"topics":{"venture":"observed","fundraising":"inferred"},"audience_orientation":"inferred","company_stage":null,"interaction":"observed","modality":"default"},"canonical_url":null,"first_seen":"2025-04-07T11:45:11.0000000Z","last_seen":"2025-04-14T11:45:09.0000000Z","observation_count":2}
